Hello
My name is Bryson Rusch. I grew up in Roy, Utah where I attended Roy High School. I received my Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Weber State University and then went on to obtain my Master of Business Administration online from Western Governor's University while I was living in Irvine, California. I now live in Layton, Utah with my wife and two boys.
My Story
I started learning to play the piano when I was 4 years old. I always had a hard time using proper timing to play out of song books, so whenever I was learning a song, the song would sometimes take on a completely different personality and rhythm than the original artist intended. This usually led to frustration in my piano lessons. I demanded that my mom allow me to quit piano lessons immediately around 13 years old. My mom told me I could quit when I could play every hymn in the Hymn Book of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As I was trying to learn how to play the hymns, I started getting a little bored with the monotony of all of them. So, as I was practicing, I started adding my own little flourishes and randomly placed arpeggios, chord rolls, and extra notes. To my mother's dismay, I was successful in completing her challenge (I don't think she thought that I could do it) and, at 14 years old, I quit taking piano lessons.
Even though I quit my piano lessons, I still enjoyed and do enjoy playing the piano. Because of my mother's challenge with the hymns and the mitigatory behaviors to boredom I started, I started trying to write my own versions of hymn arrangements.

My arrangements were very choppy, sloppy, and fraught with a lot of loud and obnoxious playing at first. By 2019, however, I felt that I had finally figured out how to balance the soft sweet nature of the hymns and the spirit they can bring with the intense fire that the Holy Spirit can bring to the soul. My style of arrangement is not for everyone, but for me, I feel the spirit whisper peace to my soul when I play and listen to my songs. My hope is that the songs I release can have a similar spiritual effect on others; that they will eventually be able to reach a global audience; and even if indirect, I hope my songs inspire people to be better and feel better as countless others' music has done for me in my life.
I'm always looking for new opportunities to collaborate or connect!
